Exhibition: Rome’s Eagle

Rome’s Eagle – Carnuntum and the Caesars’ Army

The Roman city of Carnuntum was located at the junction of the Limes and the Amber Route. For centuries, it was one of the most important military centers along the central Danube, a provincial capital and the seat of the governor. Essential aspects of the Roman army can be illustrated wonderfully here, with the legionary fortress, the fort for non-citizen troops (auxilia) and the marching camp plus the huge pool of military objects.

The exhibition “Rome’s Eagle” runs from 2017 to 2021. In Carnuntum, visitors who have a combination ticket can visit Museum Carnuntinum along with the Roman city quarter and the amphitheater in the military city in keeping with our slogan “1 Ticket, 3 Sites”. Guided tours of the exhibition are available on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays at 12:00 noon/2:00 p.m. and at any time for groups with an advance reservation.
