Roman children also had to attend school although their everyday routine differed dramatically in many respects from that of today’s schools. But there was plenty for them to learn back then, too. The children in ancient times learned to read and write using wax tables and papyrus. Festival goers interested in trying their hand at writing with a quill pen or a calamus (a pointed reed pen) are warmly welcome to do so at the schola romana.
