The day is drawing to a close. The Roman legions are proud and probably also comforted by the fact that they were able to restore peace along the border of the empire and that life in Carnuntum continues to flourish. To make sure things stay that way, the troops are gathered together and subjected to a roll call to verify that all of them are there. This is a chance for us as visitors to see the legionnaires in action once again.
