Long before large-scale furniture stores came on the scene, the individual parts of a piece of furniture had to be made by hand. This was the main task of skilled turners who had spent years mastering their craft. They also made other everyday objects. With devices based on historical finds, these processes can still be performed just the way they were 2,000 years ago. It is fascinating for us to peak over the turner’s shoulders while he works.
