The founding of the Gesellschaft der Freunde Carnuntums or GFC (Society of Friends of Carnuntum) in 1885 laid the cornerstone for conducting research in and on Carnuntum. As one of Austria’s oldest associations of its kind and deeply steeped in tradition, GFC has the ultimate objective of promoting archaeological research in Carnuntum and of making the results available to the broad public.
