Just like today, herbs in ancient times were an addition to and a possible way of adding flavor to dishes. Even more so, however, they were curative plants with powerful medicinal properties. That is why Romans had to put careful thought into planning an herb garden (usually in front of the house) and into what they might need in an emergency. We take you on a trip back in time to a Roman herb garden while also establishing their connection to today’s plants.
